For patient monitor OEM/ODM projects, the LCD and touchscreen need to work together. When selecting a new display, it is important to check both the LCD specifications and the touch interface.
Below are answers to common questions about touchscreen support and LCD compatibility on the JSF21S mainboard.
Q1: Is the touchscreen controller separate from the LCD?
The LCD and touchscreen use separate drivers. The CPU platform supports both resistive and capacitive touch drivers, but only one touch type can be used at a time.
The physical touchscreen controller arrangement should be confirmed according to the selected touch panel.
Q2: What touchscreen interface is supported — USB, I²C, or another interface?
The mainboard supports 4-wire resistive touchscreens and I²C capacitive touchscreens.
Q3: Can we use our own capacitive touch panel?
Yes. The platform supports capacitive touch panels using the GOODIX GT911 chip with an I²C interface.
If your panel uses another touch controller chip, please provide the chip model and a sample. Our engineering team can then evaluate it and update the Linux touch driver as needed.
Q4: Can we use different LCD and touch panel combinations?
Yes. A capacitive touch panel can generally be customized to match the LCD size.
The CPU supports LCD resolutions from 640 × 480 to 1920 × 1080, and LCD sizes up to 32 inches. The selected LCD and touch panel still need to be checked together for compatibility.
Q5: Does changing the LCD require changing the touch controller?
No. The LCD driver and touchscreen driver are independent. Changing the LCD does not, by itself, require a change to the touchscreen driver.
If the touch panel also changes, its controller chip and interface should be checked separately.
Q6: Can you provide the touchscreen controller model and specifications?
For the supported I²C capacitive touch configuration, the controller chip is the GOODIX GT911. Please refer to the GT911 datasheet for its specifications.
If you plan to use another controller, send us its chip model and datasheet for evaluation.
Important Configuration Note
Before selecting an LCD and touch panel combination, please confirm:
LCD model, size, resolution, and datasheet
Touch type: 4-wire resistive or I²C capacitive
Touch controller chip model and datasheet
Touch panel sample if a different controller chip is used
Connector and cable pin definitions
Please share these details with us before finalizing the display so our engineering team can check the configuration.
